Sydney's greatest Mining Museum
This is an excellent book recording the collection of the now defunct Geological and Mining Museum, a.k.a. "Mining Museum", that had a long and illustrious history in the City of Sydney, Australia.
The most spectacular specimens of the museum were, at closure, transferred to the Australian Museum which is also in Sydney (mainly secondary or oxide zone minerals from the great Broken Hill mines). However, the bulk of the old Mining Museum collections have been transferred to the NSW State government's Bore Core Store and Rev. W.B. Clarke geological centre which is located at Londonderry, north of Penrith, to the west of Sydney. A small project to 'find' and share ex exployee information of the Mining Museum, or other assorted facts related to it, has been ongoing at http://geo-sites.zoomshare.com/files/mining-museum.htm
and this reviewer would welcome any further information on the Mining Museum. ~ John.
